A teacher’s aide in Ohio has been accused of raping a disabled teenager at his home after his mother walked in on the horrific act.
Christin Coble, 45, allegedly raped the 15-year-old boy in his home on January 6. Coble was arrested later that day.
The teen’s mother said that Coble, who works as a paraprofessional in the Elmore, Ohio school district, was caught in the victim’s home Monday afternoon during a school closure due to snow.
The boy’s mother claimed to have walked in and seen Coble committing sexual acts on her son.
According to his mother, the boy has the mental capacity of a nine-year-old, per 13 Action News.
‘Our family is absolutely devastated over all of this,’ she said.
The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be filed, including potential burglary charge against Coble for entering the home.
On Wednesday, she appeared in court after waiving a preliminary hearing, where prosecutors pushed for a $150,000 bond and GPS monitoring.
Judge Cynthia Welty set Coble’s bond at $100,000, with no contact with the victim’s family issued.
Prosecutors added that the boy’s mother said the teen has an I.Q of 58.
Since the alleged assault, the superintendent of the Woodmore Local School District said that Coble had been placed on unpaid administrative leave.
The victim family will consider options for a civil case after the criminal case, 13 Action News reported.
As of Thursday, Coble remained in custody in the Sandusky County Jail, according to records. Her case is set to go before a grand jury.
