A woman was arrested after conducting a n*de photoshoot on a well-known seaside sculpture in La Paz, Mexico.
Olga Larrea, 30, was captured on video stepping onto the base of the La Perla sculpture on Saturday, January 11, and quickly removing her dress as a photographer prepared to take pictures.
She tossed her dress at the photographer and climbed onto the monument, posing as traffic on the adjacent two-lane avenue slowed and stunned onlookers watched.
Local authorities soon approached her, leading to her arrest. Larrea was taken to the local prosecutor’s office and subsequently released after paying a fine of 3,365 Mexican pesos, approximately $163.
Before removing them, she shared images from the photoshoot on her Facebook account.
Larrea expressed her frustration over the incident, criticizing the authorities for what she perceived as an infringement on her right to self-expression. She stated, “Guess who was arrested for simply existing?” and questioned, “Why is the human body censored, but not violence?”
In her post, she added, “Nudity is not offensive; it is natural. Let’s stop the shaming, reclaim our freedom, and normalize what is human.”
However, many social media users condemned her actions. One individual remarked, “She should show off her body in a place where nudity is permitted, without damaging any sculptures.” Another suggested that authorities should have pursued stricter penalties rather than allowing her to leave with just a fine.
