During her time in the UK, Meghan Markle had several cherished locations, each holding special meaning to her. Prince Harry revealed in his memoir Spare that Meghan considered Soho House in central London her “headquarters,” describing the staff as “like family.”
Frogmore Cottage in Windsor was another favorite, with Harry noting, “We loved that place. From the first minute. It felt as if we were destined to live there.”
However, Meghan recently unveiled another poignant connection to the UK, specifically to Surrey, in an emotional Instagram post mourning the loss of her beloved rescue dog, Guy.
In the heartfelt tribute, Meghan shared that Guy had suffered a severe accident shortly before her move to the UK, requiring months of surgeries and rehabilitation. While doctors initially doubted he would walk again, Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick, known as the “Supervet,” gave them hope.
Meghan revealed that she and Prince Harry frequently made late-night drives to Surrey to visit Guy as he recovered. “H and I would drive late at night, after hours, to see Guy as he recovered in Surrey for months on end,” she wrote.
Guy was treated at Dr. Fitzpatrick’s renowned clinic in Eashing, approximately an hour and fifteen minutes from Nottingham Cottage, the couple’s former home on the Kensington Palace estate.
While this period in Meghan’s life may evoke mixed emotions, the fact that Guy was nursed back to health in Surrey likely leaves her with warm memories of the picturesque and tranquil area where her beloved dog made his recovery.
