Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of Donald Trump’s most vocal allies in Congress, lashed out at a reporter after being questioned about January 6.
The fiery exchange occurred when Melanie Zanona of Punchbowl News asked Greene about Lauren Boebert’s proposal to give Capitol tours to individuals pardoned for their roles in the January 6 riot.
Greene, who serves as Chair of the House’s DOGE Subcommittee, posted a video of the interaction on social media, expressing her frustration. She dismissed Zanona’s query as a “stupid question,” stating: “I’m not doing this. This insane place up here and all of y’all’s obsession with January 6 is absurd.”
She criticized the media for fixating on the riot, questioning why Zanona wasn’t asking about other issues, such as alleged pardons issued by Joe Biden to family members and associates or the clemency granted to “murderers, rapists, and disgusting people” by previous administrations.
Greene continued: “Everybody outside of here is sick and f***ing tired of it. I’m serious. Everybody up here has their panties in a wad.”
When Zanona pressed further, Greene defended the rioters, saying: “A lot of them walked through open doors. That’s it.”
She also expressed support for those pardoned, stating: “Thank God they’re pardoned. I hope they go live their lives and rebuild. They have suffered enough.”
The Congresswoman then turned her ire toward the media, accusing them of focusing on January 6 while ignoring issues that matter to Americans.
“I’ve seen all the Democrat-run networks talk endlessly about January 6. They just can’t get over themselves. But they don’t give a s*** about real Americans!”
As the exchange escalated, Greene vented her broader frustrations: “I’m so sick of you people and this crap. I really am.”
She also criticized the media’s treatment of her, attributing public skepticism of journalists to biased coverage. “Why don’t you do a story on what people care about? People care about the border, the economy, energy. They’re tired of foreign wars, the hypocrisy up here, and they hate the media right now.”
Greene later posted the full clip of the exchange on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “After 4 years, I’m fed up with Washington DC press. Your assumptions are ignorant, and you are absolutely disconnected and clueless about what is important in life and to Americans. You have destroyed your credibility. With social media like X, you can’t lie about me anymore.”
