The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has shut down Ariba Bistro Night Life Entertainment Series, located within Martinos Hotel & Suites on Otunba Jobi Fele Way, Ikeja, due to ongoing noise pollution complaints from local residents.

The closure, which took place on Tuesday, January 21, followed repeated complaints about excessive noise levels that LASEPA stated violated the state’s environmental noise regulations, despite prior warnings and discussions with the venue’s management.

Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, emphasized that the closure reflects the agency’s commitment to addressing noise pollution and safeguarding public health and safety throughout Lagos.

He urged entertainment venues to adhere to environmental standards to prevent facing similar penalties.

“Noise pollution is a significant environmental issue that impacts quality of life and public health. The Lagos State Government has a zero-tolerance policy for activities that disturb the peace and well-being of residents,” Ajayi stated.

He also highlighted the negative health effects of noise pollution, including stress, hearing loss, and sleep disturbances.

Ajayi issued a warning to other businesses, such as hospitality venues, event centers, and nightlife spots, urging them to comply with Lagos State’s noise regulations or risk facing similar enforcement actions.

“This serves as a clear warning to other establishments that fail to follow environmental laws,” he added.
