Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, senior pastor of the City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), who was suspended last year after his wife hosted a lavish 60th birthday celebration just days after the death of Herbert Wigwe, has now launched his own church in Lagos.
The new church, called The Family Fellowship, is located at the Civic Center in Victoria Island.
In a video circulating online, Pastor Idowu was seen celebrating with church members in their new space.
The Iluyomades faced heavy online criticism when Pastor Siju Iluyomade held an extravagant birthday party, complete with performances by singer Flavour, shortly after the tragic death of Herbert Wigwe, a former CEO of Access Bank, and his family in a helicopter crash.
Following the incident, the couple was disinvited from the Wigwes’ funeral and subsequently suspended by RCCG in June 2024.
They were transferred to the church’s headquarters in Ebutte Metta but have now established their own congregation.
