Joggers on their usual run at the Sandringham estate received an unexpected surprise when King Charles himself showed up to join them.
Although His Majesty didn’t lace up his running shoes for the event, he met with the Sandringham parkrunners at the café on his Norfolk estate on Saturday.
In a photo shared by parkrun UK, the King is seen wearing a beige suit and a brown overcoat, posing for a picture with the group of runners.
The caption read: “Not every day you get royal approval at parkrun. This morning, His Majesty The King joined Sandringham parkrunners in the café to offer his congratulations, including to the Sandringham 5k Your Way group as they marked their one-year anniversary.”
The weekly 5k event involves two laps around a scenic route through Sandringham Royal Park’s woodlands.
Parkrun, which was founded in 2004 by Peter Paul Sinton-Hewitt, has grown into a popular community event, with thousands of runners participating every Saturday at 1,308 locations across the UK.
