Katie Price has updated fans on her health following tests on her lungs, prompted by concerns related to her mother Amy’s terminal lung disease, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
The 46-year-old model underwent the tests after Amy, 71, was diagnosed with IPF in 2017 and given a life expectancy of up to five years. Amy underwent a lung transplant in 2023. IPF causes scarring in the lungs, making breathing increasingly difficult.
Price, who has been vaping for a year, also sought to understand how the habit might have impacted her lungs.
Speaking on Snapchat on Thursday, she shared:
“Yesterday, I went to have my lungs checked because my mum had a lung transplant. I wanted to see if it’s genetic and if vaping has affected my lungs.”
She continued: “But my lungs are absolutely perfect—nothing wrong with them. The doctor even gave me advice on how to quit vaping. So, I’m starting to wean myself off vapes. It’s all good news—my lungs are working well, especially for my age. I’m healthy!”
Quitting Vaping
Last year, Price announced her decision to quit vaping, calling it a “disrespectful” habit given her mother’s health struggles.
On Instagram, she confessed: “I’ve been vaping for a year, and it’s no good for you—especially when my mum has had a lung transplant. It’s disrespectful to do this in front of her. I’ve decided today is the day I’m throwing this horrible, addictive thing away.”
Price encouraged others to join her in quitting, saying she had cleared her car of vapes and was determined to stop.
Seduced by Vaping
Earlier this month, Price admitted she had been drawn to vaping despite never having smoked. Speaking on Rob Moore’s podcast, she explained: “My mum’s had her lung transplant, and she’s never smoked. I’ve never smoked. A year ago, I smelled these vapes, and I got the taste for them.”
She also revealed that a medical expert warned her about the dangers of vaping during a consultation. “He told me that if anyone was going to start anything, smoking or vaping—though he advises against both—smoking would be the lesser evil. He said vapes are so bad for you.”
Price’s commitment to quitting reflects her focus on maintaining her health while raising awareness about the risks of vaping.
