The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has confirmed that her cancer is in remission, expressing deep gratitude to the staff at Royal Marsden Hospital for their outstanding care throughout her treatment.
In a surprise visit to the London hospital, just four months after completing chemotherapy, Kate marked a significant milestone in her recovery. She shared a heartfelt message on social media, signed “C,” saying: “I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year. My heartfelt thanks go to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything.”
Kate praised the “exceptional care and advice” she received during her diagnosis, noting that she and Prince William “couldn’t have asked for more.”
During her visit, Kate met with patients and staff, including chemotherapy patient Katherine Field, with whom she shared her own treatment experiences. She even joked about becoming attached to the port mechanism used for drug delivery. She also comforted Tina Adumou, whose 19-year-old daughter is in intensive care, reassuring her, “There is light at the end of the tunnel. You are in the best of hands.”
The visit coincided with the announcement of Kate’s new role as joint royal patron of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust alongside Prince William. In this capacity, she will advocate for groundbreaking cancer research, promote clinical excellence, and support the well-being of patients and their families.
Reflecting on her journey, Kate expressed relief at being in remission, saying: “It is a relief to now be in remission, and I remain focused on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am, however, looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead.”
Kate first disclosed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, following months of speculation about her health.
She completed her treatment in September 2024 and shared a personal video message encouraging others battling cancer: “To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand.”
Her openness about her health challenges and commitment to cancer care advocacy has garnered widespread admiration and support.
