Singer and actress Jessica Simpson, 44, and her husband, Eric Johnson, 45, a former NFL player, have announced their separation after a decade of marriage.
“Eric and I have been living separately, navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson shared in a statement to PEOPLE. “Our children are our priority, and we are focused on doing what’s best for them. We deeply appreciate the love and support we’ve received and kindly ask for privacy as we work through this as a family.”
Speculation about their separation began in November 2024 when Johnson was seen without his wedding ring. Around the same time, Simpson hinted at a “comeback” to music with a cryptic Instagram post featuring photos of her in a recording studio.
The couple married in July 2014 after dating for four years and share three children: daughters Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 12, and Birdie Mae, 5, and son Ace Knute, 11.
Simpson and Johnson first met in 2010 through a mutual friend and became engaged six months later.
This marks Simpson’s second marriage; she was previously married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006.
