A nursing mother in Owerri, Imo State, has faced severe backlash from her community after she allegedly killed her maid. A video shared online shows the woman carrying her child in a hospital, surrounded by an angry crowd who accuse her of causing the maid’s death.

The maid is seen lying lifeless in a hospital bed.

As the crowd confronts the woman, emotions run high, with someone warning others not to physically harm her: “Guy, no hit am, no hit am,” a voice says, while another adds, “She’s going to NAPTIP straight.”

According to journalist Nonsonkwa Ochi War, the woman was detained by neighbors following the incident. It is alleged that the maid, who was underage, was punished for sitting with the woman’s children to watch TV, which led to her tragic death.

In the video, the nursing mother attempts to explain herself, but her voice is drowned out by the crowd.

“Very wicked woman. Is that not someone’s child?” one person asks, showing the body of the maid. Onlookers are heard expressing their outrage, filming the girl’s body with their phones.

The woman is later heard describing how she went to the market, returned home, and began cooking, but the crowd continues to berate her, calling her “wicked” and “a wicked soul,” while condemning her actions.

The video has ignited widespread outrage online, with many joining the call for justice for the young maid.
