A North Carolina man, George Lesniak, fatally shot his wife, Cathleen Lesniak, 59, and confessed to the crime in a chilling Facebook post before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide, according to the Fuquay-Varina Police Department.
The incident occurred on January 18, 2025, inside the couple’s 5-bedroom, 4-bath home in Fuquay-Varina, located 18 miles southwest of Raleigh. Police were called to the residence shortly after 6 p.m. and discovered George, 63, with a self-inflicted fatal injury.
In a now-deleted Facebook post shared with a private ADAS Support group, George admitted to killing his wife, alleging she had been unfaithful.
“My wife admitted to cheating on me, so I killed her. I’m about to kill myself,” he wrote. George, who had been an administrator for the group focused on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) calibration technicians, also told members to determine the future of the group without him.
The couple, married for over 34 years, were both professionals in the automotive industry. Cathleen worked as a Technical Production Manager at Advanced Auto Parts, while George, an Illinois native and Lincoln Technical Institute graduate, had served as vice president of training at Autel Automotive Intelligence USA until September 2024.
Autel Automotive Intelligence responded to the tragedy with a brief statement on Facebook, expressing their condolences to the Lesniak family and friends.
Police are conducting a thorough investigation due to the complexity of the case but have not officially confirmed the incident as a murder-suicide. Authorities emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public and urged the community to keep the family in their thoughts.
“This incident is deeply tragic, and we ask for compassion and support for all those affected,” officials stated.
Cathleen’s Facebook page, now private, and George’s LinkedIn profile reflect their long-standing careers and contributions to their respective fields.
