Girlfriend Faces Court For ‘Cyber-Farting’ After Sending Videos To Boyfriend’s Ex

A judge has condemned a woman who admitted to sending videos of herself farting to her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend, in what is believed to be the first case of “cyber-farting” to reach the courts.

Rhiannon Evans, 25, sent multiple videos to Deborah Prytherech, who reported feeling distress and anxiety as a result.

In court, prosecutor Diane Williams described how Evans “positioned the camera on her bottom before passing gas,” smirking at the camera in each clip.

The videos, sent between December 22 and early January, included messages on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Police became aware of the unusual harassment and arrested Evans, bringing her before the court in Caernarfon.

When questioned about her actions, Evans claimed she was responding to what she perceived as unfair treatment of her partner by his ex.

Defending her, Harriet Gorst explained: “There were ongoing issues between Miss Evans’ partner and his ex regarding child contact. She had been drinking when she sent the videos and now realizes they caused distress. She did not intend any malice.”

However, the prosecution argued otherwise. “It was purely malicious,” Williams countered. “She found it hilarious, but the victim did not.”

Evans was ordered to pay nearly £300 in penalties, including £100 in compensation to the victim and £199 in court costs.

In a victim impact statement, Ms. Prytherech expressed her distress, stating that she “would like to feel safe in [her] home.”

As part of her sentence, Evans must complete 15 rehabilitation sessions and abstain from alcohol for two months. Additionally, she was issued a two-year restraining order preventing contact with her victim.
