Former NBA Partner, Brittany Renner, Shares Update After Embracing Islam And Major Lifestyle Changes

Influencer and former NBA partner Brittany Renner has shared an update on her life following her surprising conversion to Islam. Renner, who shares a son with Dallas Mavericks forward P.J. Washington, described her journey as a “beautiful purification process.”

Renner shocked fans over the summer when she posted a video wearing a hijab, marking a stark departure from her previous image, known for revealing Instagram photos and high-profile relationships with celebrities like James Harden and Lil Uzi Vert.

In a recent Instagram video, which has garnered over 436,000 views, Renner revealed details about her transformation. She shared that she has been Muslim for five months, sober for six months, and celibate for eight months.

“This has been a really beautiful purification process for me—of the mind, heart, body, and soul—and an opportunity to meet myself on a deeper level,” she said. “I’ve discovered how deserving I’ve always been. Even with wearing the hijab, I trust that those meant to see me will see me.”

Renner admitted she originally joined Instagram in 2012 seeking validation and male attention but now feels liberated. “I feel free. I do not belong to this world. This world didn’t give me my joy, and it can’t take it away,” she said.

Personal and Financial Struggles

Renner and Washington, 26, began dating in 2020 but broke up the following year. Washington hinted at the split in a cryptic tweet, accusing someone of “faking it all along.”

Now 32, Renner has been candid about the challenges of her new lifestyle. She expressed uncertainty about how her modest appearance will align with contracts requiring her to model “sexy” clothing, such as from brands like Fashion Nova.

In an August Instagram video, she opened up about her financial struggles, wearing a khimar, a garment covering the head, neck, and shoulders. “I’ve gone through a lot of changes internally, and as a result, my outer world has completely crumbled,” she said. “I have no idea where I’m going to live or how I’ll provide for my son.”

Renner, who reportedly receives $2,500 a month in child support, faced criticism from some fans. “You crying to the wrong tax bracket girl. Bye,” one commenter wrote.

Washington, who has earned over $17 million in his NBA career, recently signed a three-year, $48 million contract extension.

Despite her challenges, Renner remains committed to her newfound faith and lifestyle, describing the journey as transformative and deeply fulfilling.
