Dr. Arube Otor, a 55-year-old highlife musician from Delta State, popularly known as Isoko Fela One, is set to marry three women on the same day.
The wedding is scheduled for Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Anglican Church Field in London Base, Uzere Kingdom, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Arube shared the wedding invitation and pre-wedding photos with his brides-to-be—Oghenekome, Ewoma, and Oghenekaro—on Facebook on December 31.
Hailing from Uzere Kingdom in Isoko South LGA, Arube’s three brides come from different parts of Delta State: Lagos-Iyede in Ndokwa East LGA, Oruamudhu Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North LGA, and Uroto Quarter, Ozoro Kingdom in Isoko North LGA.
According to Arube’s foster son, Emperor Efih (Oscar), who confirmed the event in an interview with Punch, the initial plan was to marry four women, but one withdrew for personal reasons.
“Arube married two women about 20 years ago, but one divorced him, leaving him with just one wife. To save costs, he decided to marry four women this year. Along the way, one pulled out,” Efih explained.
A legend in Delta’s highlife music scene, Arube has been active for over 30 years. He started as a driver while pursuing music and later formed his own dance band 12 years ago after splitting from a previous group. Since then, he has released over 10 albums.
Efih added that Arube’s brides were not courted simultaneously or in the same location. Two of the three women already have a child each with him, while the third is awaiting the “fruit of her womb.” Traditional marriage rites for all three women were performed on the same day last year.
