The Wales family took part in the traditional Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham, where senior royals gathered as part of the annual event.

The family coordinated their outfits, with the Prince and Princess of Wales dressed in festive forest green and navy blue. Princess Charlotte, nine, wore a tartan coat that matched her mother’s scarf, while her brothers, following Prince William’s example, wore smart ties and long coats.

A sweet moment between the two eldest children was captured as they walked past royal well-wishers, collecting flowers and gifts. Prince George, 11, who was already carrying a teddy bear and what seemed to be chocolates with Father Christmas on them, turned to his younger sister and pointed toward the crowd, saying, “She’s got chocolate for you.”

Prince William gently placed a hand on his son’s shoulder as they made their way along the short walk between Sandringham House and St Mary Magdalene Church. Prince Louis, six, charmed the crowd with waves and cheeky smiles. He held his mother’s hand for most of the way but seemed especially happy when he received festive chocolates and a stuffed toy from well-wishers.

This public appearance was the second in recent months for the family, following their support for Princess Kate at the annual Together at Christmas carol concert. The year has been challenging for the young family, with Princess Kate recently completing chemotherapy for cancer. Her appearances, including at the carol concert and other low-key moments, mark her gradual return to royal duties.

In a video released on Instagram, Kate reflected on the difficult year, saying, “This time has, above all, reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted – of simply loving and being loved.”

A source close to the family explained that Kate’s return to work would be gradual: “The commitment to duty from both her and William is unwavering… but she’s aware that the road to recovery is long. She must focus on that as well.”
