Video: One Dead, Mother And Four Children In Critical Condition After Collision

Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, along with the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), rescued a woman and four children following a tragic accident on the Benin/Asaba Expressway.

The incident, which occurred on the afternoon of Thursday, December 19, 2024, involved a truck and a Toyota Sienna traveling from Lagos to the East.

Harrison, who witnessed the crash, reported that the Sienna collided with the truck, resulting in the death of a female passenger in the front seat. The mother and her children sustained serious injuries and are in critical condition.

The injured victims are currently receiving treatment at St. Theresa Hospital in Issele-Uku. Harrison urged anyone who may know the family to contact the hospital for more information.

“I just witnessed a tragic accident on the Benin/Asaba Expressway involving a Toyota Sienna traveling from Lagos to the East,” he wrote. “The vehicle collided with a moving truck, causing the death of the female passenger. I assisted in rescuing the mother and her four children, who are now being treated at a nearby hospital.”

He praised the swift response of the FRSC Delta State/Issele Office and advised drivers to exercise caution during the holiday season. “The rescued family members are in critical condition and being treated at St. Theresa Hospital Issele-Uku. Families can locate the hospital from Asaba, stopping at the Issele-Uku Junction.”

Harrison concluded with a call for safer driving: “As you return from your Christmas holiday, please remind your drivers to drive carefully and avoid reckless behavior.”
