President-elect Donald Trump made headlines with his Christmas Day message, which he shared on his Truth Social platform, targeting several groups, including federal death-row inmates who received clemency from President Biden.
In his message posted on Wednesday, December 25, Trump expressed disdain for the 37 inmates, many of whom he described as violent criminals.
“To the 37 most violent criminals, who killed, raped, and plundered like virtually no one before them, but were just given, incredibly, a pardon by Sleepy Joe Biden,” he wrote. “I refuse to wish a Merry Christmas to those fortunate ‘souls’ and instead will say, GO TO HELL!”
On Monday, Biden commuted the sentences of 37 out of 40 men on federal death row, which included at least five child killers and several mass murderers. The White House stated that the commutation was part of Biden’s effort to create “a fair and effective justice system,” reducing the inmates’ sentences to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
In addition to his comments on clemency, Trump also criticized China, Canada, and “Radical Left Lunatics” in his Christmas message, reiterating his stance on U.S. control of the Panama Canal and Greenland.
“Merry Christmas to all, including to the wonderful soldiers of China, who are operating the Panama Canal illegally, while ensuring that the U.S. spends billions in ‘repair’ funds, yet has nothing to say about it,” Trump remarked.
He extended his critique to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, suggesting that if Canada became the 51st state, citizens could see a significant tax reduction and enhanced military protection.
Trump concluded with a message directed at the Radical Left. “Merry Christmas to the Radical Left Lunatics, who are constantly trying to obstruct our court system and elections, and are always targeting the great citizens and patriots of the United States, especially me, their political opponent.”
