Meghan made a solo appearance at The Paley Honors, held by the Paley Center for Media, where Perry was celebrated for his groundbreaking contributions to film and television.
As one of the Committee Chairs for the evening—alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Taraji P. Henson, and Kerry Washington—Meghan, 43, was spotted enjoying herself on the dance floor. During a lively moment in the philanthropic portion of the evening, where guests were encouraged to donate, she and Kerry playfully danced to the beat as an appeal specialist called out paddle numbers.
The event paid tribute to Perry’s “remarkable and enduring career,” highlighting his efforts to challenge stereotypes, educate audiences, and foster unity through bold storytelling.
Meghan looked radiant in a strapless black Oscar de la Renta gown, accessorized with a custom Logan Hollowell necklace, a Cartier Love necklace, and sleek Celine heels. She wore her signature dark hair in an elegant updo and opted for a fresh, natural makeup look that highlighted her features.
The gala menu featured smoked burrata caprese salad, filet of tenderloin, and a selection of desserts. Meghan enjoyed the evening with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
The night was deeply emotional, particularly when Tyler Perry spoke about his harrowing childhood experiences. Fighting back tears, both Kerry Washington and Oprah Winfrey were visibly moved as Perry recounted the physical and verbal abuse he endured from his father, as well as sexual abuse by family friends.
“At 55 years old, I am the freest version of myself that I’ve ever been,” Perry shared. “I’ve embraced my pain, stared down shame, and taken its power so I could heal. I challenge everyone to do the same.”
He concluded with a heartfelt message: “I don’t know how much time I have left on this planet, but I want to love as much as I can and spread as much joy and good as I can. I want to make my mother proud, and I want my son to be proud of his father—something I never could be of the man who raised me. Thank you to everyone who showed up for me tonight.”
