Gololo appeared in the Seshego Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 30, 2024, where he faced charges of statutory rape and sexual grooming of a minor.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the alleged offense took place in Seshego township.
Reports indicate that Gololo and the victim met at a shopping complex in January 2024 and began communicating, with their relationship becoming intimate in May 2024.
The victim confided in her aunt about the situation after experiencing complications, leading to medical tests in November 2024 that confirmed she was eight months pregnant. She subsequently gave birth to a baby boy on December 25, 2024.
Authorities were alerted, and the Seshego Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offenses Unit arrested Gololo on December 26, 2024.
The case will be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for further action, and the proceedings for a bail application and additional investigations have been scheduled for January 8, 2025, at the Seshego Magistrate’s Court. Gololo remains in custody.
