A 33-year-old woman, Dreanna Booker, was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband, Pierre J. French, 36, just weeks before their divorce was set to be finalized. The tragic incident occurred on December 7 at a home in Elgin, Illinois.
Police responded to a call around 1 a.m. and discovered Booker’s body in the 700 block of Bluff City Boulevard. French, the suspect, was taken into custody shortly after the incident.
Family members of Booker spoke out about their loss, describing her as an inspirational and loving individual. “She meant a lot,” said her niece, Zahnae Scott. “She was a real inspirational person.”
The couple’s divorce was scheduled to be finalized on January 1, 2025. Court records reveal that Booker had previously filed an emergency protection order against French in July.
The couple’s six children, ranging in age from 1 to 14 years old, are now left without both parents. “Her kids meant the world to her,” said her nephew, Tayvion. “Nobody could take her kids away from her, and we’re going to forever have her kids every day.”
Booker’s family is rallying together to care for the children and honor her memory. “She’s the one who inspired me to do my braids and my own hair,” Scott shared. “She always reminded me, ‘You’re so pretty.’”
French faces first-degree murd£r charges and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, December 18, in Kane County.
Booker’s family continues to lean on their faith as they grieve this devastating loss. “We want justice for my baby,” said her brother, Thomas Mitchell. “Everything else we’re putting in God’s hands.”
