Princess Sofia of Sweden has shared that her upcoming 40th birthday celebrations will be more intimate than usual, due to her advanced pregnancy. The royal couple is expecting their fourth child in February 2025.
In a recent interview with Vogue Scandinavia, Sofia revealed that she plans to keep the festivities low-key, focusing on spending time with close friends and family. “I’m going to be quite highly pregnant,” she explained. “So, I think a bigger birthday party will wait a little bit.”
Despite her busy schedule, Sofia remains dedicated to her royal duties, often engaging with civil society organizations and businesses to promote positive change. She expressed optimism about the future, stating, “In a world that can feel quite dark, I know a lot of amazing things are happening.”
Sofia and Prince Carl Philip tied the knot in 2015 and have since welcomed three sons: Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel, and Prince Julian. Their fourth child will be eighth in line to the Swedish throne but will not hold an HRH title.
The royal couple has been open about the challenges and joys of parenthood. In a 2017 interview, Carl Philip jokingly described their home as “chaos,” while Sofia acknowledged the increased demands of raising two children.
