On Christmas Day, Prince Louis and his siblings were seen receiving numerous thoughtful gifts from fans, but one present stood out—an extraordinary gesture from a young royal admirer.
Six-year-old Rupert Bradley from York presented Prince Louis with a hand-finished silver egg cup and spoon adorned with King Charles III’s Coronation Commemorative Mark.
Interestingly, Rupert had received the same item in his own Christmas stocking and was so enamored by it that he urged his mother, Kay Bradley, to arrange one for Prince Louis.
A Special Connection
“Rupert has always felt a bond with Prince Louis,” Kay, an independent jeweler from York, explained. “They were born just days apart, which makes Rupert feel a special connection.”
Rupert, who has a lower-limb condition called Bilateral Talipes, shared why he admires the young prince: “He always looks a bit cheeky and fun.” The schoolboy also expressed pride in Louis’ potential future role, adding, “Louis is likely to be our next Duke of York, so it’s important he has a special connection to our magical city.”
Kay highlighted her son’s thoughtfulness despite facing significant health challenges. “Rupert has had a tough start in life with multiple hospital visits and surgeries, but he remains incredibly brave and always thinks of others. We are so proud of him.”
A Historic Gift
As a devoted royal fan, Kay was among the first to acquire the Coronation Commemorative Mark when it launched in March 2023. The egg cup and spoon presented to Prince Louis bear the last mark produced for this historic occasion.
Roxanne Guest, Deputy Chief Executive at Birmingham Assay Office, which applied the commemorative mark, commented: “The King Charles III Coronation Commemorative Mark, featuring His Majesty’s head within an oval, was introduced in February 2023 and available for application until December 2024. It could be added to gold, silver, platinum, or palladium items by all four UK Assay Offices.
We’re honored to see the final mark gracing this beautiful egg cup and spoon, now destined for the King’s grandson.”
This thoughtful and historic gift from young Rupert is sure to hold a special place in Prince Louis’ collection, reflecting the warmth and admiration he inspires even in the youngest royal fans.
