A 23-year-old man from Mncedisi Village in Lower Gweru, Zimbabwe, has been arrested and charged with assault following a violent attack on his mother.
The incident, which occurred on November 18, 2024, has sparked outrage within the local community.
The man, reportedly intoxicated at the time, accused his mother of harboring resentment toward his wife. The confrontation quickly escalated as he threatened to kill her, even making chilling remarks about decapitating her, before launching a physical attack.
Armed with an iron rod, he struck his mother repeatedly, targeting her left eye, forehead, and other parts of her body. In an apparent attempt to prevent her escape, he forcibly stripped her nak3d.
Her cries for help alerted neighbors, who intervened and rescued her from further harm. The woman sustained serious injuries, including a deep forehead cut and significant swelling around her left eye, requiring immediate medical attention.
The man was arrested shortly after the assault and charged with domestic violence. He appeared before the Gweru Magistrates Court, where the details of the brutal attack were revealed.
The court found him guilty on November 29, 2024. He remains in custody and is scheduled to return to court on December 3, 2024, for sentencing.
