Hammed, an employee of Fortune Security Company in Onipanu, Lagos, was rushed to the General Hospital in Odeda, Ogun State, for urgent medical attention but was later pronounced dead.
According to Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, the incident occurred on December 18, 2024, around 5:30 PM. The case was reported to the Odeda Police Division by Adejumobi Adetunji, a colleague of the deceased.
Odutola revealed that the Divisional Police Officer in Odeda received the report of Hammed’s death at approximately 6:20 AM the following day.
“A 52-year-old man, Adejumobi Adetunji, who works for Fortune Security Company in Onipanu, Lagos, reported that his colleague, Kareem Hammed, a resident of Alagbado, Lagos, collapsed while on duty,” she said.
She further explained that Hammed had been treated for malaria and discharged from the hospital just a week before the incident. Despite being rushed to the General Hospital in Odeda for treatment, the doctor on duty confirmed his death in the early hours of the next day.
Odutola added that Hammed’s body has been deposited at the Odeda General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Meanwhile, the Odeda Police Division has commenced a preliminary investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
