A man in Maharashtra’s Parbhani district, India, has been arrested for allegedly setting his wife on fire after she gave birth to their third daughter, police reported on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
The horrifying incident, captured on a nearby CCTV camera, took place on Thursday night in Gangakhed Naka, approximately 520 kilometers from Mumbai.
The accused, 32-year-old Kundlik Uttam Kale, reportedly had frequent arguments with his wife, Maina, over the fact that they had three daughters, according to a complaint filed by her sister.
During one such dispute, Kale allegedly doused Maina with petrol and set her ablaze.
Maina ran out of the house screaming, and neighbors rushed to extinguish the flames. Tragically, she sustained severe burns and succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the hospital.
