Five People, Including Two Children, Killed In Murder-Suicide Incidence

Officers responded to a welfare check at an apartment complex on the 2100 block of Vineyard Walk around 7:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, they discovered five individuals dead from apparent gunshot wounds: a 43-year-old woman, a 32-year-old man, a 26-year-old woman, a 5-year-old girl, and a 1-year-old boy.

While the investigation is ongoing, preliminary findings suggest the incident may have been a murder-suicide.

Police have not confirmed who the suspected perpetrator is or the relationships between the victims, but neighbors reported hearing gunshots earlier in the evening.

The apartment complex was cordoned off as detectives worked to gather evidence, and investigators are interviewing neighbors and potential witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.

Authorities have not released additional details or the identities of the deceased pending notification of their families. The DeKalb County Police Department urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist with the investigation.
