A 54-year-old man, Eseni Chima, has been arraigned before an Abakaliki Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing his wife, Ugochukwu, by beating her with iron rods.
The prosecutor, Emmanuel Monday, informed the court that the incident occurred on September 4 at 60 Ogbaga Road, Kpirikpiri, in Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
He stated that the offence contravenes Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 33, Vol 1, Laws of Ebonyi State, 2009.
Due to lack of jurisdiction, Magistrate Chinedu Agama did not take Chima’s plea and directed the police to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
The case was adjourned to December 31 for further proceedings.
