‘Die Hard 2’ Actor Art Evans Passes Away at 82 After Long Health Battle

American actor Art Evans, best known for his role in Die Hard 2, has passed away at the age of 82 following complications from a prolonged battle with diabetes.

Evans reportedly died peacefully over the weekend.

In a heartfelt statement, his wife, Babe, shared: “Art was not only an incredible actor but a devoted husband, friend, and source of light to everyone who knew him. His laughter, passion, and love of life will be deeply missed. While our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the legacy of joy and inspiration he leaves behind.”

With a career spanning over four decades, Evans appeared in more than 120 acting roles. His most iconic performance was as Leslie Barnes in the 1990 action sequel Die Hard 2, where he played an air traffic control employee aiding Bruce Willis’s John McClane in a fight against terrorists at Dulles International Airport.

Evans also starred in the critically acclaimed A Soldier’s Story (1984) as PVT. James Wilkie, sharing the screen with Howard Rollins, Adolph Caesar, and a young Denzel Washington in one of his breakout roles.

His film credits include Leadbelly (1976), Fright Night (1985), Tales from the Hood (1995), and The Story of Us (1999).

Evans made notable appearances on television as well, featuring in series like MASH*, The Fall Guy, Walker, Texas Ranger, The X-Files, Monk, and Everybody Hates Chris. One of his most memorable roles was as the father of Ron Johnson (Darryl M. Bell) on A Different World.

Additionally, Evans appeared in Stevie Wonder’s 1985 music video for “Go Home.”

He is survived by his wife, Babe, and their son, Ogadae.
