A Nigerian Chief, Phillip Uweno, has forgiven and reconciled with his wife three months after she poured hot water on him over a side chick in Delta State.
Human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe confirmed the news in a Facebook post on Monday, December 2024.
Joe shared that the chief decided to drop the case against his wife and welcomed her back into their home.
“Do you remember the story I posted two months ago about the wife who poured hot water on her husband (Chief Philip) because of a side chick in Jeddo, Okpe LGA of Delta State?” Joe wrote. “Well, let me tell you the outcome. The man gave permission for her release, they finally settled the matter, and the wife is back with him.”
Joe also humorously added, “On behalf of all the tatafo people, we know that no one should interfere in husband and wife matters. Chief Philips, we greet you and wish you a happy continuation of your marriage. Lol.”
In a previous interview with Vanguard, Chief Uweno, speaking from his hospital bed in Ekpan, Uvwie Local Government Area, described the brutal attack. He said his wife poured hot water on him and struck him on the back of the head three times with a wooden object.
He managed to escape, grabbing his car keys and driving quickly to the hospital with blood streaming from his head.
“My wife poured hot water on me, then hit me with wood on my head three times. I had to struggle to get out of the house, jumped into my car, and drove to the hospital bleeding,” he recounted.
Chief Uweno explained that his wife had been threatening to harm him over a girlfriend. He also mentioned that he had warned her multiple times about managing her anger, fearing it could lead to harm.
“I’ve told my wife several times to be careful with her anger, as it could harm me and she would later regret it. I wouldn’t advise any man to marry a woman with such anger issues—it’s dangerous,” he added.
