A 32-year-old man named Ezekiel Elijah has been arrested in Delta State for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl with physical disabilities.
The arrest took place in Aviara, Isoko area, as confirmed by the Delta State Police command spokesperson, SP Edafe Bright, who shared the information on his X account today, December 29.
According to reports, the suspect lured the girl into his home, locked her inside, and s*xually assaulted her. “He deceived her, took her to his house, and molested her,” Bright explained during the suspect’s questioning.
SP Bright emphasized the troubling nature of the case, given the victim’s vulnerability, stating, “She’s someone who needs a guardian and assistance.”
When questioned, the suspect claimed he was unaware of the girl’s age.
However, SP Bright clarified that ignorance is not a valid excuse, asserting, “Whether she agrees or not is irrelevant… she is not of an age to consent. The crime of defilement is clearly defined; if the victim cannot give consent due to her age, it is treated as defilement.”
The case has already been referred to the courts for further legal action.
