Cop, 40, HAD s3x with domestic abuse victim and a woman he arrested while on duty

A policeman who had a s3xual affair with a defendant he arrested while on duty has been jailed for two-and-a-half years in prison.

Officer Adam Jones engaged in consensual s3xual relationships with two women whilst pursuing a third all of whom were involved with him in a policing capacity, a judge was told.

The 40-year-old officer, who was a full-time constable from 2009 to 2022, was sentenced after being found guilty of holding a public office and wilfully neglecting to perform duty and misconducting himself.

Jones, of Monkston, Milton Keynes, was based at Milton Keynes Police Station and committed the offences between 2013 and 2021. His victims cannot be identified for legal reasons.

Prosecutor James Bruce told the court that in 2013 two women had submitted complaints to the police regarding domestic abuse.

Jones had a s3xual relationship with one of the complainants over many years, while he pursued the other.

In 2021, Jones began texting a woman he had arrested before he had even completed her witness statement.

Reading Crown Court heard that Jones sent personal and s3xual messages before the woman went to court and gave her advice about her case. He later deleted the messages.

He resigned from his post at Thames Valley Police on September 14, 2022, and was charged by postal requisition in September 2023.

Speaking about one of the victims, Judge Heather Norton said: ‘She felt this was a power imbalance.

‘She had shared intimate details of her case and her life with you and you were in a position of authority.’

Mr Bruce described how Jones also had s3x whilst he was on duty.
