9 People Died From Plane Crash In Brazil Tourist Town

At least nine people are feared dead after a small plane crashed into the popular tourist town of Gramado in southern Brazil on the morning of December 22. Authorities confirmed the fatalities, with no survivors aboard the plane.

The aircraft, a Piper Cheyenne 400 turboprop, crashed into a building’s chimney, hit the second floor of a house, and then fell onto a furniture store, according to the Rio Grande do Sul state security department. An inn was also damaged in the incident.

Cleber dos Santos Lima, director of the state civil police’s Interior Police Department, confirmed that there were no survivors and that the crash had resulted in nine confirmed deaths.

While authorities have not yet disclosed the exact number of people on board, it is believed that the plane was carrying ten individuals.

At least 15 people were hospitalized, most suffering from smoke inhalation due to the fire caused by the crash.

The plane had taken off from Canela, another tourist town in the region. Gramado is a popular destination in Brazil, attracting many visitors during the Christmas season.
