Prince William and Princess Kate displayed a rare public show of affection as they attended the Remembrance Festival in London on Saturday.
In a video captured by fans outside the Royal Albert Hall, Princess Kate—making her first major appearance since completing chemotherapy—was seen gently placing her hand on Prince William’s back as they arrived. William responded by resting his hand on her lower back while they greeted guests and made their way into the venue.
Kate looked elegant in a black coat dress adorned with a poppy, paying her respects alongside Prince William, King Charles, the Princess Royal, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. This marked the first time this year that the 42-year-old royal has participated in back-to-back official engagements, following her recovery from cancer.
Kate completed her look with light-denier tights, black Romy 100 pumps from Jimmy Choo, and a Chanel lambskin quilted mini square bag.
For jewelry, she honored William’s late mother by wearing Princess Diana’s diamond drop earrings and a Monica Vinader vintage chain pearl necklace. Notably, she also wore her iconic 2010 diamond and sapphire engagement ring for the first time in months.
The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance, held annually on the Saturday of Remembrance weekend, saw the royal family joined by Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in the royal box. Together, they watched tributes from serving personnel to those who lost their lives in Afghanistan.
The evening concluded with the singing of the hymn “Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer,” followed by the national anthem.
As the anthem ended, servicemen removed their headwear and gave three cheers to King Charles, who waved in acknowledgment. The ceremony concluded with a moment of silence as the Last Post played and poppy petals descended from the ceiling.
