According to TMZ, the celebrity couple was disillusioned with Trump’s victory in the recent US election and decided to relocate.
The report, citing sources with direct knowledge, stated that DeGeneres and de Rossi have settled into a new home in the Cotswolds, a region in southwestern England about two hours from London.
The couple had reportedly purchased the property before the election but chose to move after Trump’s win earlier this month. The source claimed that they were “very disillusioned” and immediately made the decision “to get the hell out.”
The move could be permanent, as the TMZ report also noted that DeGeneres is now listing her house in Montecito, California. Previously, the couple sold their other mansion in the US for $96 million.
At 66 years old, DeGeneres will join other celebrities like David and Victoria Beckham, Elizabeth Hurley, and Kate Moss in the English countryside as she leaves her home country in the wake of the election.
DeGeneres and de Rossi were among the most vocal supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris, who ran against Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
In September, Ellen shared on Instagram, “There’s nothing more powerful than a woman whose time has come!! I can’t wait for @KamalaHarris to be our next president,” and also donated $3,300 to Harris’ campaign.
