British supermodel Georgina Cooper has tragically passed away at the age of 46 on a Greek island, just months after her wedding.
Cooper, who was on the island of Kos with her new husband Nigel, suddenly fell ill. She was first taken to the local hospital, but her condition worsened, prompting doctors to arrange for an air ambulance to transport her to Crete, where better medical facilities were available.
She was admitted to intensive care, where she remained for five days before passing away. Her body was flown back to England last week.
Her former agent, Dean Goodman, shared the news with MailOnline on November 8, saying: “She loved Greece and had planned to return there with her new husband.
Tragically, she passed away there about two weeks ago. Georgina had been struggling with health issues since having COVID and had been in and out of hospital. However, she had plans for the future. She had just married and was looking forward to the next chapter of her life. Everyone is devastated. She was a genuine superstar.”
Discovered by a modeling agency at just 13 years old, Georgina’s big break came when she appeared in a Bon Jovi music video at 15. She became a major figure in the 1990s fashion scene and was famously dubbed London’s “original gap-toothed girl.” She worked with the biggest names in fashion, gracing the covers of US Vogue and The Face.
After stepping away from the catwalk to focus on raising her son, Sonny, Georgina most recently worked in hospitality in Kent.
In June 2024, she married near her home in Maidstone, Kent, with a reception at the local pub. The couple honeymooned in Kos, where they shared joyful wedding pictures on the island’s Facebook community.
Georgina had returned to Kos in late October but sadly passed away there after battling ongoing health issues linked to her previous illness during the pandemic, according to Goodman.
Tributes have poured in from her fellow models, including Jade Parfitt, Erin O’Connor, Jodie Kidd, and Helena Christensen, who described her as a “ray of light” and praised her immense contributions to the fashion industry.
Friend and fellow model Jade Parfitt remembered Georgina fondly, telling MailOnline: “Her friends and family are absolutely devastated. Georgina was a ray of light—fun-loving, always laughing, and mischievous in the best ways. We all loved hanging out with George backstage. Her achievements in the industry were huge.”
