Controversial South African pastor Paseka “Mboro” Motsoeneng has sparked a frenzy on social media after being spotted carrying a large wooden cross on his back while walking to court. A video of the spectacle, evoking biblical imagery, quickly went viral, leaving many viewers, particularly Zimbabweans, amused.
Pastor Mboro is currently facing charges of kidnapping, possession of dangerous weapons, and assault. His dramatic act of bearing the cross appeared to mimic the biblical story of Jesus carrying His cross before the crucifixion, drawing a crowd of curious onlookers.
In an interview with TimesLive, the pastor explained the symbolism behind his gesture, describing it as a representation of redemption and resilience.
“We were far away from God, but He brought us closer through the blood of Jesus, through the cross. All injustices, all diseases were on Him on the cross,” Mboro stated.
The pastor also spoke about a personal ordeal involving his son, Revival, who he claimed was attacked by 11 individuals. The suspects have reportedly been arrested and face charges of common assault and intimidation.
“The people who broke my cars are now coming out, assaulting my son, smashing his face, leaving bruises. There was no justice for more than 100 days, but God showed up,” he said.
Despite the challenges he faces, Pastor Mboro expressed unwavering confidence in overcoming them.
“Today, it’s just the beginning. I will conquer through the cross. Even if I face this war alone against ten, a hundred, or a million people, I will conquer it,” he declared.
The pastor’s actions and statements have drawn both support and criticism, adding to the controversy surrounding his ongoing trial.
