To celebrate King Charles’ 76th birthday on Thursday, the Prince and Princess of Wales extended their warm wishes via social media.
The couple shared a touching message alongside a recent photo of the King, captioned: “Wishing a very Happy Birthday to His Majesty The King!”
The image, taken during Charles and Camilla’s visit to Samoa last month, shows the King dressed in a beige suit with sunglasses and a ceremonial garland at the opening of The King’s Garden at the Robert Louis Stevenson Museum in Apia.
Additionally, the royal family’s social media account posted a portrait of Charles in a blue suit, taken at Buckingham Palace in honor of the occasion.
King Charles chose to mark his birthday by launching two new hubs aimed at redistributing surplus food.
The openings coincide with the first anniversary of the Coronation Food Project, an initiative supporting charities that provide meals using unwanted food. The King personally inaugurated one of the Coronation Food Hubs and participated virtually in the opening of the second.
These hubs are expected to assist organizations like FareShare and the Felix Project in aiding communities in need. During his visit, Charles toured the facility, meeting with beneficiaries and representatives from food banks, schools, and community groups.
A “surplus food festival” showcased dishes made from ingredients that would have otherwise gone to waste.
This celebration comes shortly after Princess Kate joined King Charles and Prince William at Remembrance Day events, marking her return to public duties following her chemotherapy treatment.
In a recent interview with UK media during his visit to South Africa, Prince William shared candidly about the challenges of the past year, describing it as “the hardest year of his life” due to both his wife’s and father’s cancer diagnoses.
He expressed his pride in how Kate and King Charles have handled their health battles, saying, “I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done.” He added that from a family perspective, the year has been “brutal.”
Prince William also provided an update on Kate’s recovery, noting that she is “doing really well.”
The health challenges faced by King Charles and Princess Kate were publicly confirmed earlier this year, with Charles resuming treatment after returning from his tour of Australia and Samoa with Queen Camilla. Meanwhile, Kate, 42, completed a course of preventative chemotherapy in September.
