During a special visit to Vancouver’s Seaforth Armoury on Monday, the Duke of Sussex delighted students with a thoughtful surprise.
Prince Harry spent the day engaging with students, veterans, and Invictus Games competitors as part of a school initiative aimed at shifting perceptions of service members, veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
Capping off the meaningful day, Harry delivered an inspiring speech before surprising the children with a special gift: tickets for themselves and a family member to attend the Invictus Games 2025 Opening Ceremony.
The Duke’s generous gesture came shortly after he made a surprise appearance at the Grey Cup in Vancouver, where the Toronto Argonauts faced the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
In his speech, Harry expressed his admiration for the young participants and emphasized the importance of the Invictus Games in fostering community and resilience.
“Meeting the kids today and seeing them learn about the Invictus Games has had a profound impact on me,” he shared.
Encouraging the children to empathize with competitors, Harry added: “Imagine what it’s like for these individuals—overcoming challenges, rejoining team members, and stepping into a stadium filled with tens of thousands of people cheering them on.”
He concluded with a surprise announcement: “Inside your small bag, you’ll find tickets to the opening ceremony. Congratulations—you’re all invited! Thank you for your heart, soul, and commitment to learning about Invictus. We’ll see you in 82 days.”
The 2025 Invictus Games, set to take place in Vancouver and Whistler from February 8 to 16, continue to be a cornerstone of Harry’s dedication to empowering veterans and service members.
