The Nigerian government has reiterated its support for a two-state solution to resolve the long-standing Israel-Palestine conflict and is urging an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing Israel-Gaza crisis.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to present these positions at the Joint Arab-Islamic Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which begins today.
Tinubu arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday, November 6, following an invitation from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
A statement from presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga revealed that the president would address the escalating violence in the Middle East, emphasizing Nigeria’s call for an urgent ceasefire and a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Nigeria will advocate for renewed diplomatic efforts aimed at reviving the two-state solution as a sustainable path to peace in the region.
The president’s delegation includes high-ranking officials such as Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
