A man has been arrested after a woman was raped in the grounds of a cathedral in the early hours of the morning.
West Mercia Police said officers attended the scene when a report was received that the woman had been attacked at around 4.30am on Sunday.
A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of rape and remains in police custody, the force said.
There is an increased police presence in Hereford after the incident and the victim is currently being supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Inspector Colin Berry said: ‘We understand that incidents like this can be unsettling for the community, and I want to provide reassurance that we believe there is no wider risk to the public.’
