In a heartwarming ceremony, Maddison May Brudenell, granddaughter of Lady Pamela Hicks, exchanged vows with Bret Kapetanov in a picturesque country wedding at a historic 15th-century village church. HELLO! magazine was on hand to capture the memorable day.
Maddison, who is Prince William’s third cousin and the great-granddaughter of Lord Mountbatten of Burma, glided down the aisle alone, radiant in an elegant white gown and tiara. “I’m a mum of four now and my own woman. I can walk myself down,” said the 30-year-old bride, who chose a solo walk to signify her independence.
Her bouquet featured hydrangeas and pink and white anemones, and she was accompanied by her bridesmaids, flower girls, and her four children, including her two-month-old son, Michael.
In a touching union of British aristocracy and Canadian roots, Maddison wed her millwright and welder partner Bret at St. Mary the Virgin Church, where she herself was christened. Bret, dashing in a classic morning suit with a black tailcoat and top hat from Hawes & Curtis, said, “I was almost ready to cry as my beautiful wife walked toward me.”
The service was filled with personal touches, including heartfelt readings by Bret’s parents and Maddison’s godmother.
The music included stunning performances by bridesmaid Laura Andresen Guimarães, who sang At Last and Be Thou My Vision. Holding back tears, Maddison said, “It’s such an overwhelm of joy – if I’d let my tears go, it would have taken a minute.”
The rings, both personally designed by Bret, held special meaning: Maddison’s engagement ring, with three diamonds representing her older children, and her wedding band, with a diamond symbolizing baby Michael. “It was so special, I couldn’t believe it,” said Maddison. “I’m obsessed with my ring, and I love Bret’s as well.”
