Queen Elizabeth II’s final diary entry, written just two days before her passing, has been revealed.
The brief note consists of only five words.
Throughout her remarkable 70-year reign, Queen Elizabeth, who passed away in September 2022 at the age of 96, maintained a private diary where she recorded important events in her life. She continued this practice into her final days.
Royal biographer Robert Hardman uncovered the late Queen’s last diary entry while researching updates for his book on King Charles.
The entry was written at Balmoral, where she passed away on September 8, two days after meeting newly appointed Prime Minister Liz Truss.
The entry reads, “Edward came to see me,” noting a visit from her private secretary, Sir Edward Young, and mentioning the swearing-in of new Privy Council members.
Hardman described the entry as practical and factual, reflecting the Queen’s usual way of noting her day-to-day activities.
