Singer Khalid has come out as gay, sharing the news on social media after claiming that another artist outed him.
The R&B star made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday night, posting a rainbow flag emoji and writing, “there yall go. next topic please lol.”
This revelation followed a series of online events, including a tweet speculating about his sexuality.
In response to a comment asking, “Wait hope Mr Khalid isn’t GEHHH!,” Khalid quote-tweeted and confirmed, “I am! And, that’s okay.”
Khalid further explained his feelings about being outed in a follow-up post: “I got outted and the world still continues to turn. Let’s get this straight (lmao) I am not ashamed of my sexuality! In reality, it ain’t nobodies business! But I am okay with me. love yall.”
It appears Khalid was referring to deleted posts from fellow singer Hugo D Almonte, who reportedly revealed Khalid’s sexuality without his consent.
Despite the situation, Khalid expressed confidence in his identity and reinforced his privacy. “I wasn’t hiding anything! It’s just not any of your business,” he stated, affirming his self-acceptance.
Fans have largely supported Khalid, with many pointing to subtle hints in his previous work, including his 2022 song “Satellite,” which some have hailed as an LGBTQ anthem.
