Kensington Palace has revealed that the Princess of Wales has extended a special invitation to her Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey on 6 December.
Among the guests will be child survivors of the tragic Southport stabbing, which devastated the community on 29 July.
The knife attack, which occurred during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class, claimed the lives of three children and left ten others seriously injured. The invited guests include those affected by the tragedy, as well as those who have shown resilience and strength in its aftermath.
Earlier, Princess Kate, 42, accompanied Prince William in privately meeting with the bereaved families of Bebe King (6), Elsie Dot Stancombe (7), and Alice Dasilva Aguiar (9), as well as first responders and dance teacher Leanne Lucas (35), who was critically injured during the attack.
The Princess’ Together at Christmas concert marks her first festive engagement since completing preventative chemotherapy in September. Since its inception in 2021, the annual event has celebrated individuals who dedicate themselves to supporting others.
This year’s service will focus on the theme of love, kindness, and empathy, particularly in times of hardship. A Kensington Palace statement shared:
“The service will shine a light on individuals from across the UK who have demonstrated love, kindness, and empathy towards others in their communities. This year, Her Royal Highness wanted to celebrate those who inspire, counsel, and comfort others, showing that love is the greatest gift we can share.”
The Palace added that the concert draws inspiration from the Christmas story, urging reflection on the importance of empathy and understanding in human connections.
