A Florida-based cruise company, Villa Vie Residences, is offering Americans a unique way to escape President-elect Donald Trump’s second term in office with a four-year cruise.
The company recently launched its Tour La Vie program, which allows passengers to travel to over 140 countries, avoiding the United States for an extended period.
The program features several options, including a one-year “Escape from Reality” cruise, a two-year “Mid-Term Selection” cruise, a three-year “Everywhere but Home” cruise, and a four-year “Skip Forward” trip.
“We designed this campaign before we even knew the election results. Regardless of the outcome, we knew half of the population would be upset,” CEO Mikael Petterson told Newsweek. “We don’t take a political stance, but we wanted to provide a way for those who feel threatened to get away.”
Prices for the program begin at just under $40,000 per year, with full four-year trips starting at $256,000 for single-occupancy cabins and up to $320,000 for double-occupancy cabins. The cost includes all food, drinks, WiFi, medical visits, weekly housekeeping, and bi-weekly laundry services, though alcohol is only included at dinner.
The journey includes a month in the Caribbean, a four-month South American tour, two Panama Canal transits, visits to World Wonders, the Chilean Fjords, an Antarctic sail-by, Rio’s Carnival, and an eight-day Amazon River adventure.
Since announcing the trip on November 7, Villa Vie Residences has seen a significant increase in inquiries.
For those on board during the 2026 midterm and 2028 presidential elections, passengers can still vote by mail-in ballots, sent to the cruise line’s office and forwarded to the ship.
Petterson added that passengers are seeking refuge from political discussions, with many preferring to avoid such conversations during the trip, enjoying a similar lifestyle instead.
