A 39-year-old sangoma, Catherine Nhongo, has been arrested in Zimbabwe after allegedly s*xually assaulting a 17-year-old boy with mental disabilities.
The incident occurred on November 10th when Nhongo, under the guise of offering spiritual healing, lured the boy and his siblings to her home.
After drugging the boy with mealie meal, she sexually assaulted him.
The victim’s siblings, alerted by disturbing noises, intervened and contacted the police. Nhongo was apprehended while attempting to flee the scene.
She has been charged with aggravated indecent assault and is currently in police custody. The court will decide whether to grant her bail.
