Tragedy has struck the quiet town of Afashio in the Uzairue district of Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo State, where five individuals—including one woman—were discovered dead in a room under suspicious circumstances.
The shocking event, which took place on Saturday, October 26, 2024, has left the local community in disbelief.
Reports indicate that two of the deceased were brothers, while the others were their friends. Family members made the grim discovery after noticing they had not emerged from the bedroom.
Preliminary investigations suggest that generator fumes and food poisoning may be potential causes of death.
Both the Area Commander of Auchi Police Station and the DPO of Jattu Police Station have stated that no conclusions will be reached until a comprehensive investigation is conducted.
The spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident, emphasizing that an investigation is underway.
“The command is aware of the situation, and we are working to determine the cause of death,” the PPRO stated.
