Donald Trump Jr has hinted that his father, if re-elected, would stop aid to Ukraine. Over the weekend, Trump Jr shared a meme featuring a stern-looking President Zelensky standing next to Donald Trump with dollar bills falling around them.
The caption read: “POV: You’re 38 days from losing your allowance,” referencing January 20, the date Trump could potentially return to the White House as the 47th President.
The clip, originally posted by former Alaska governor Sarah Palin on Instagram, suggests a halt in U.S. support for Ukraine under a Trump administration. Trump Jr also commented that there would be no place for “war hawks” in his father’s future government.
The U.S. has so far provided approximately $106 billion in aid to Ukraine, including military, financial, and humanitarian support, as reported by the Council on Foreign Relations.
Donald Trump and his supporters have been vocal critics of the extensive U.S. aid provided to Kyiv, previously dubbing Zelensky as “the greatest salesman on Earth.”
Amid escalating conflict, both Ukraine and Russia have intensified their military efforts. Ukraine recently reported a record number of Russian casualties, with 1,770 troops lost in a single day.
According to the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, Russia’s total losses have reached around 710,660 personnel since the full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022.
