Adejumorekeh Balogun, a Nigerian woman, has publicly appealed for help after reportedly losing her left eye due to domestic violence.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, November 16, 2024, she shared distressing photos of her swollen, injured face, revealing that she had been trapped in an abusive marriage with her husband, whom she described as a “beast,” for 15 years.
“This is what 15 years in an abusive relationship has cost me—my left eye. I need help from the public. Justice must be served. He knows I have no one to support me, which is why he treats me this way. Please call or WhatsApp 08167340977 for more information,” she wrote.
The following day, November 17, she shared another post, claiming her husband and his family were threatening her over her initial post. Balogun stated that she is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital and called for assistance from authorities.
“Please share this until it reaches the right authorities who can help me. I’m feeling helpless. His family and he are threatening me, and they don’t know where I am,” she explained.
She also posted photos from December 2022, alleging that her husband had a history of abuse, including towards his previous wives.
Balogun accused her husband’s family of downplaying the abuse, insisting it was a one-time incident. She pleaded for justice, sharing her fear of not receiving help due to her lack of a strong support network.
“This man has been abusive throughout our relationship. His friends, my family, and even his ex-wives can confirm this. Now his family is pressuring mine to remove my posts. I haven’t found a specific authority to handle the situation yet, so I’m relying on all of you.
“He told me I have no strong backing and that no one would help me. I’m putting my faith in God—I cannot suffer in vain. I’ve already lost sight in one eye, and I deserve justice,” she concluded.
